         Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse Vacation Rental

 

          We would like to invite you to our lovely little historical one room schoolhouse, Kinder Hawk.  Located in rural Pennsylvania Dutch farmland, one mile from the Appalachian Trail and less than three miles from the world renowned Hawk Mountain Bird Sanctuary, we would like to share our love of history, family and friendship with you.

 

          Built in 1885, many Kempton children walked daily to and from their farms to Bolich‘s School to learn their ABC’s.  Remodeled into a private residence in the early 1960’s after the Kutztown School District unified all the one room schoolhouses and built the Albany Elementary School in downtown Kempton, Kinder Hawk was then the residence to the Miller Family.  We were able to purchase the schoolhouse in December of 2014, and once again rejoin it to our farm.  Kinder Hawk has again been transformed and available as a charming private year round vacation rental.

          Your visit will start with a Welcome Basket filled with local farm raised produce and provisions, then, as the day goes on and you slowly unwind, you might be visited by multitudes of birds singing for their supper or by white tailed deer and wild turkeys foraging for their supper.  End your day with a glass of wine on our stone patio enjoying the gloriously colorful sunsets over the Appalachian Mountains that gradually turn into star-filled country night skies!
